Festivals, Awards and Icons
Hola, welcome back to Majo by Maria.

It’s been a while, and there are so many things we need to catch up on.
So today’s agenda will be:
Let’s begin:
The Junnos - Nominees and winners.
This weekend, Hamilton hosted the most important music awards here in Canada. The Juno Awards are taking place on March 28th and 29th, showing the great musical talent that Canada holds. So many nominees, all of them so talented. You can check the full list here. But who are the Latin singers at this important event?
Let’s take a look.
The one and only Jessie Reyez was nominated in multiple categories, showing the best of both worlds, as Hanna Montana would say, she does R&B like no one, but carries her Colombian blood with pride and respect. Jesse was nominated for Traditional R&B/Soul recording of the year, Contemporary R&B recording of the year and Songwriter of the year. So far, we know that Daniel Caesar took home the Songwriter of the Year award, which is well deserved, too. We need to see what Miss Reyez is taking with her this year.

And for the first time on the Juno Awards, we have the category of Latin Music Recording of the Year. Four talented nominees who showcase with pride their Latin American Roots.
These are the nominees:
Índole by Alex Cuba
Baila y Confía by Andy Rubal
Vanity by Isabella Lovestory
La Belleza by lido Pimienta
He Sanado Varias Cosas by Mario Puglia
The winner of the night was Alex Cuba, a Cuban musician who has been recognized by the Grammys, Latin Grammys, and Juno Awards for his talent and charisma.
Young Miko, a boricua under international eyes.
2026 has shown us the greatest of Maria Victoria Ramirez de Arellano Cardona, a Puerto Rican who has broken records, standards and stereotypes. The rapper has become the face of the GAP Spring campaign, starring in an iconic commercial that returns to the brand's basic sweats. Afterwards, Cosmopolitan joined the Miko Fever, making her the cover story with the hot and playful headline, “Young Miko Wants to Take You Home” and finally Rolling Stone Magazine had a great opening by Julyssa Lopez on her article, mentioning how Bad Bunny bet on Young Miko years ago giving the world a three-years promise that she would be one of the greatest of all time, and it became real. Check all the articles, campaigns and stories about this amazing woman who made her way in one of the most difficult industries without giving up or backing up.
Festival season is truly all year round. What do we have so far?
Latin America have started the festival season. If you think festivals are just in summer, let me take you through the most well-known festivals that start in March. If you ever want to enjoy the best artist at a hype festival, you need to go from Argentina to Canada to live in person the festival tour that makes the music industry vibe.

Festival Estero Picnic (Colombia): March 20, 21, 22

But are all the same artists? Yes and No, each one has exclusive artists, many of them do a full circuit but each performance carries something unique. You can have a better idea here:

Even tho most of these festivals have already happened, it’s interesting to see all the events and artists, and maybe you can get ready and plan for the next festival close to you.
Would you go on a festival tour around different countries?
That’s it for this edition of Majo by Maria, hope you like it and enjoy it.
