Welcome back!

Collage with Spotify, Tencent, and music icons; text reads "Week Eleven Updates" in blue. Music streaming focus.

After two weeks of a different format, I’m finally bringing back the original idea of Majo by Maria.

No awards or events lately. This week I am going to talk about a topic that has been on social media lately. “SPOTIFY IS PUTTING ADS ON PREMIUM VERSIONS.” I’ve seen so many TikTok videos about it. I am a Spotify lover. (I am pretty sure you’ll have seen it with all the playlists that I share). This is a false rumour, but as usual on social media, someone says something and it spreads out extremely quickly. Streaming platforms started as an alternative to the classic vinyls, CDs or cassettes. It became a huge industry with different platforms that offer you all kinds of services. Spotify have left the screen and has become a creative path for all artist to connect with their fans. In different countries, Spotify has launched “houses” event places where you can see your favorite artists in unique events. This platform also offers unique fan experiences, either in person or virtual. Changing their Premium version, including ads, would’ve been really bad for the company. With this issue, I did some research about the music streaming platforms.

Some graphics about it:

In the first graphic, we can see the different companies and how many subscribers each one has worldwide. Spotify, leading the chart. Tencent Music is in second place and Apple Music is in third place. We already talked about the first one, and the third one is a very know platform made by the giant Apple. The second one that might not be very well-known here is a music streaming service for the Chinese Market.

In the second one, we can see the number of subscribers yearly and how much it has grown.

Seeing those charts, we can all tell the impact these platforms have gained over the years.

With this, I want to say, even if Spotify would’ve had lost all those followers due to the “new” premium change. The amount of music online and the platforms will keep all the songs in your hands. This industry is set now, and will keep growing and making it accessible for everyone.

What do you think about this?

New music! I’ll leave the playlists (On Spotify ;) ofc! )

New music Canada, New music Latin America and New finds!

No Latin spotlight this week, we are just coming back.

Byeeee see you next week!
