What is Majo by Maria?

Hi there, reader. If you are reading this, it is because you like music and you are curious about this blog.

Let me introduce myself first. My name is María José Latorre Montenegro. Long name, I know. I am a Colombian girl who moved to Canada to accomplish her dreams of being a writer and a music journalist. Back home, everyone calls me Majo [ma-ho], which is short for my name. Since I moved here, I have introduced myself as Maria to make things simple and easy, but it feels like I left a part of me in Colombia. (That is the reason for this blog’s name) I love music from a journalist's perspective. I am not a musician at all, but all the history behind it, the culture that it carries and the power that it gives is just amazing. I am a freak about this subject, and my biggest dream is to be able to share it with the world.

That is what this blog is about. Showing everyone that you don’t have to be a musician to enjoy and learn about music. I hope those music freaks out there can relate to the weekly updates that will be here. Every Friday, expect a weekly update of new releases and facts about the music industry. Some weeks, some spotlight on new artists, soon events and more. This will be a Canadian music blog with a special place for Latin-American music.
